Program Details
1. RETURN ON IMAGINATION (ROI): Leveraging the Strategic Value of Design
This two-day workshop will help designers deliver Return On Imagination to their organizations. It is meant for participants interested in taking or more ably fulfilling a strategic role in their company.
The Program
Design is critical to the success of most businesses, but designers are not well trained in the methods and models of business. As "creatives," designers are often overlooked in the strategy conversation and only asked to implement. This has consequences for design and business. Creative intelligence and design thinking can provide strategic advantage. Designers able to build a bridge between design and business can leverage the value of design to provide that advantage.
Program Outcome
Participants will be able to more effectively demonstrate how design can be leveraged to meet marketplace needs and address business challenges in a strategic and effective way. Participants will be able to more effectively combine design thinking with strategic thinking and language.
The Method
Through lecture, group discussion, case studies and "real-world" examples, design participants will learn to leverage the strategic value of design and demonstrate Return On Imagination. Participants will be able to practice how to make a case for the strategic value of design in their organizations and get feedback on where it was more or less effective.
2. CLAB
SPC has a special interest in cultivating creative advantage and developing talent. And so, we have created a unique service CLAB to develop creative advantage. Because strategy is art, as much as science, four box models, while necessary are often not sufficient.
The Program
CLAB assumes that participants have the analytical skills necessary for success in business and focuses in on the integrative abilities that are often less developed: intuition, imagination and insight. CLAB encourages solution- focused inquiry and uses creative techniques and tools to enable organizations to see hidden opportunities. CLAB can be used to:
- Develop scenarios
- Test market strategies
- Position new products
- Identify barriers to success
- Surface invisible dynamics
- Find and fix hidden technical problems
The Method
CLAB supports more traditional development programs and is best used for complex business issues that challenge linear, analytic approaches and to develop creative professionals. Client organizations commit to six CLAB sessions over the course of a year.
